Believe that the confusion lies in comparing the B8 A4 vs the C5 A6 and not the C6. The C6 is the longest and widest in its class. If you sit in the back of the B8 (as some have on the B8 forum), it is an inch or so longer in legroom compared to the B7 A4.

The cars are totally different. The B6 far exceeds the b5 in every area except, IMHO, looks. The handling/ride is night and day.
